Dear Mr President,
I am writing you as the new leader of the United States of America, the world's most powerful country, whose decisions influence the lives of us all.
During your campaign, understandably, you ranked the interests of the American people as your top priority.
As you begin your presidency, we would like to remind you that American citizens, before all else, are men, women and children whose health and welfare depend on the condition of our Planet.
The scientific community worldwide agrees that if steps are not taken soon, millions of lives will be compromised, not in the next millennium, but in the next few decades.
For this we ask the maximum commitment of your Administration in the coming years to encourage the use of renewable energy, to pursue all initiatives regarding the containment of toxic gases in the atmosphere, to participate in the development of concerted, international actions
to reduce the effects of climate change. Hopefully, under your leadership, all of this will be done even more effectively than it has in the past.
The future of your children and grandchildren, and that of all of Mankind, depends on the choices for the environment that the United States and other industrialized nations will make in the coming years.
Walls and borders cannot block rain, air, sunlight. These are shared by all.
Your declarations on climate change and on the future of energy in the past weeks as President-Elect have emboldened us to write you. For this reason, as we wish you a successful mandate, in matters concerning our global environment, we beg you...
Surprise Us, President Trump!
